’Before That Day’ is the first single from PAPER’s debut album ’An Object’. ’An Object’ are a selection from the 23 songs that was recorded live in the studio during one session. The rest of the songs will be featured on album number two which will be released this fall. The sound is based around the frustration of punk, the desperation of monotony and the delicacy of pop melody. PAPER deliver on one side two-minutes hardcore manouvers followed by long monotonous, almost transcendental, three-chords variations. Throw in well arranged melodies and pretty traditional pop songs like nitrate in the hard cold cocktail and you get the big picture. Punk-kraut is a pretty accurate description of their music. It is not about love and not about hate. It is more a confrontation of the frustration the knowledge about what life’s meaninglessness bring. All portrayed with a big healthy dose of deep black ironic humour which gives us lyrics like; ”don’t wanna live but im too tired to die – don’t wanna smile but im too tired too cry”.
